Call for a Tech Advisory Board

We are looking to create a Tech Advisory Board. This board will assist the Tech Coordinator in the International Secretariat of SCI by offering technical advice and expertise on an ad-hoc basis. The board would, for example, be consulted when deciding which technology to use, or when encountering specific technical challenges. The exchanges could happen over emails, calls, video-calls, or in person depending on where its members are based and their availability.

Tech in SCI

SCI relies on its technical solutions and platforms for promotion, placement, and organization. We are constantly working on facilitating the movement’s work by improving the platforms’ user-friendliness and functionalities. We are using a variety of technologies, including Drupal 7 and 8, Joomla! 3.x, and WordPress.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for people of all backgrounds, based anywhere in the world, who have specific tech knowledge. In particular, we would be happy to hear from people with a strong interest in one or more of the following:

  • Drupal 7 and/or Drupal 8,
  • Joomla! 3.x,
  • WordPress,
  • Web and UX design,
  • LimeSurvey,
  • CiviCRM,
  • System administration (Linux, cPanel, WHM),
  • Project management in tech.

But keep in mind, anyone interested in tech and ready to volunteer is welcome to apply!

The members of the Tech Advisory Board should have the capacity to respond to emails in a timely fashion, and actively take part in technical discussions as they occur.

Service Civil International

Service Civil International (SCI) is a volunteer organisation dedicated to promoting a culture of peace by organising international voluntary projects for people of all ages and backgrounds. The organisation consists of 43 branches and an ever growing number of partner organisations.

SCI is open to all. It was one of the first organisations to divest itself of all political or religious affiliations in its work of promoting peace and intercultural understanding through practical action. Throughout the years SCI has made a major contribution to the development of the main forms of volunteering. Year after year, the organisation enables thousands of volunteers to participate in community projects.

SCI’s vision is a world of peace; social justice and sustainable development, where all people live together with mutual respect and without recourse to any form of violence to solve conflicts. SCI’s mission is to promote a culture of peace by organising international volunteering projects with local and global impact.
