Pool of Trainers on track - updates

During the Share Experience, Get Inspired seminar in Belgium, organised by the IS, 8 members of the renewed Pool of Trainers met in person, mostly Europeans, but also our member from Sri Lanka managed to join.

We had intensive and productive meeting which brought up new ideas, exciting seeds for future cooperation and some things to think about.

While meeting we realised we formed a very complementary team. We represent a wide array of experience, background and knowledge concerning topics, such as ecology, gender, post-conflict resolution, human rights, theatre of the oppressed, and many more. Furthermore there are many of us with experience in grant writing and managing projects.

With this enthusiastic team we are eager to be an active and productive team to SCI which will help the movement wherever we can. As such we will be cooperating with the IS, branches and SCI groups. At ICM we will be represented by Lasantha and Clara who will be the interested ear for your ideas and questions and the spokespersons for the TP.

The Pool of Trainers and Facilitators of Service Civil International contributes to the growth of SCI with the design, coordination and implementation of educational projects, such as seminars, training courses, events, projects in the framework of EU and other regions’ institutional programmes, at the global, national and local level. As each of us has specific knowledge and skills, we can offer advice and support on many different topics.

Below you will find a list of the trainers and their specific skills.

If you would like to work with the SCI Pool of Trainers and Facilitators and if you need a trainer/facilitator/project manager for your projects, do not hesitate to contact The Pool!

You can contact us through This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Please provide us with as much information about the project as possible – fill in the template provided here. Ideally contact us as early as possible before the project.

3. How to select a trainer?

A profile of the trainers is available below. You can voice a preference and the TP will provide you a selection of available trainers/ facilitators within 7 days of the first contact.

4. What does it cost?

We devote a lot of our private time to the voluntary work for the enhancement of training quality within SCI, and our plans for 2019 include several initiatives that will be developed by us on a voluntary basis. However, we do not have the capacity to lead all SCI training activities for free, as every event consumes several days of preparation, then working on the spot and last but not least the follow-up activities. Therefore the organizers of events (meetings, seminars, trainings, etc.) have to offer the TP a fee for the work of the trainer/ facilitator. The amount is to be discussed further with the assigned trainer/ facilitator. The payment has to be received by the trainer/ facilitator within three months after the event. Food and accommodation during the preparation process on the location have to be covered by the hosting branch or partner, as well as 100% of the travel costs.
