As you know on September 21 the International Day of Peace is celebrated around the world. This year we decided to introduce teenagers to the activities of SCI Poland. Our friendly team went to the local high school, where our peaceful performance began. We talked about volunteering, about opportunities for young people, about non-formal education, about actions and programs to work on peace. Now we are just waiting for new activists in our ranks. Working with young people is an important part in building common understanding between people. The culmination of our event was the Peace Run. In several locations in our region children and pupils (sometimes even with teachers😊) run for peace according to their possibilities: 100 m, 500 m, 2000 m. That was truly incredible! Many young people have received an impulse to learn more to experience life more and stop waiting for something to happen but to create their own future. Poland is a country that has faced the hardships of war and for us the topic of its consequences remains very painful. This might help the society to recognize the value of peace and take measures to preserve it. We wish you all a peaceful sky over your head and more young people with an active lifestyle. Together we will save our planet and make it better for all of us!

The Peace Run and the workshops were the first part of the local project “The world is changing – what about us?” financed by the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Education for Democracy Foundation. In October and November 2018 we will run workshops on peace, human rights and forced migration in eight towns of Wielkopolska region to prepare young people for the next step: Living library: to make a space for people with different experience to meet with local communities.

If you care enough for the living

Make it a better place

For you and for me
