Workcamp

Written by Philip from Nigeria

July 2022

As part of the Grassroots project, Philip came to Belgium from Nigeria for a job shadowing experience, co-coordinating a workcamp, visiting the International Secretariat of SCI in Antwerp and the local SCI branch in Brussels.

Here is his experience during the workcamp:

Between June 26th and July 9th, I was with a group of 11 volunteers in the country side of Antwerp, Belgium.

We were participating in the work camp Na Fir Bolg Festival.

I’m the camp coordinator with Angela from SCI Belgium.

During the two weeks of the work camp, we were working with local volunteers and the organisers of the event.

Our work was building tents, fences, floor, demarcation of parking spaces for cars and bikes and making the venue of the event beautiful.

I think work camp is a wonderful experience to promote social change and cultural exchange.

You can still join!
