No More War 2025 Microgrants

Its aim is to support youth antimilitarist activism, together with SCI’s No More War group.
Part of this project is distributing microgrants to young people who are organising antimilitarist actions in their local realities. In total we have supported 10 actions across multiple countries, you can find more info below!

Counter-summit for Peace and Justice
The Hague, Netherlands
The Countersummit for Peace and Justice was a 2-days action, which was organised to counter the NATO War Summit on June 24-25 in the Hague. This activity consisted of a countersummit and a protest the following day, and organised by the Countersummit for Peace and Justice, a temporary network of peace organisations, political groups and social initiatives, whose common goal was to bring people together and create solutions together for a more peaceful and just future. The countersummit welcomed around 400 participants from 19 countries, with 17 different panels and workshops. The protest gathered around 5000 people from the Netherlands and beyond, which received mainstream media attention and brought visibility to the movement.

Peacebuilding and Community Engagement

Tunis, Tunisia
This 4-day training aimed to strengthen young people’s capacity to reflect on peace, civic engagement and community empowerment. The main goal was to deepen their understanding of the latter, as well as identity and intersectionality, through non-formal education and by building a safer space to explore peacebuilding from different perspectives. The participants were invited to come up with initiatives and one of them was chosen as a follow-up action, which happened in October.

Antimilitarist Action and Mobilization during the KRAMA Festival
KRAMA Collective
Athens, Greece
This action took place during the KRAMA Festival, a week-long antifascist, antimilitarist, and anticolonial cultural action. It was organized as a response to the escalation of war, genocide, and fascist normalization both globally and locally. They held co-listening sessions, radio performances co-created with No More War members, and community workshops. On the 31st, over 25 artists showcased music, dance, installations, and open workshops on letter-writing to Palestine, playlist-sharing from 8 different cultures currently going through genocide, collective music-building, and more. A dedicated infopoint for NMW was also there with local members engaging with people interested in antimilitarism and the collective.

Civic Service vs Military Service

Athens & Kyparissia, Greece
SCI Hellas’ actions, in cooperation with the Association of Greek Conscientious Objectors, were a set of three informative events and an online survey. The events’ goal was to inform young people about conscientious objection and alternative service in Greece. The survey, which received almost 500 answers, was used to assess the general consensus on military service and inform the respondents about alternative service through questions and general information. Overall, around 50 people joined the discussions and around 150 people were made aware of alternative service through the survey.

Raval to Palestine – Films Against Genocide

Barcelona, Spain
This event, organized by Nour and Ian, compiled the screening of the movie Where Olive Trees Weep, open discussions, Palestinian snacks and a silent exhibition. The event gathered over 50 participants.

When You Take the Streets
No More War
Brussels, Belgium
This activity was organised by Alaa and Eve, members of No More War. The event consisted of an exhibition on protests and demonstrations, as well as the screening of three short films, followed by discussions between facilitators and participants. 21 people were present at the event. The discussions focused on protesting and demonstrations, as well as personal experiences and ways to bring more attention to collective action.

“On My Land” screenings

Milan, Italy
This event was a screening of the documentary “On My Land”, in the Centro Internazionale di Quartiere (CIQ), by Palestinian journalist and activist Mohamed Zwhara, raising awareness about the living conditions of people in the West Bank.

SCI Italia
Rome, Italy
Rome held two different events. The first was a roundtable discussion followed by the screening of “On My Land”. The discussions also involved experiences from different organisations like Operazione Colomba, BDS Italy, and Assopace Palestina.
The second event was a live performance Il secolo è mobile by journalist and writer Gabriele Del Grande, followed by an informal moment of exchange with the audience. It took place in the context of the No Border Festival, a well-established community event promoted by SCI Italia, Laboratorio 53, and other local associations working on migration-related issues.
Overall, over the course of the 3 events, a total of 140 people participated, from activists and students to local residents.

XPOSED Films Against War 2025
No More War
Berlin, Germany
The “No More War x XPOSED Queer Film Festival” was a small antimilitarist queer film festival held at Wolf Kino in Berlin. Three shorts programmes were presented, focusing on queer perspectives on war, militarism, and resistance. The event included Q&A sessions with filmmakers Maksim Avdeev and Virgil b/g Taylor. It was organised as a collaboration between the No More War collective and XPOSED Queer Film Festival, aiming to raise awareness on antimilitarism through queer film.

Art against war: creating change together
Bridge to Peace
Nottingham, United Kingdom
The event consisted of a series of different small workshops run by Bridge to Peace volunteers on the themes of antimilitarism and propaganda. These included several artistic workshops using cardboard, textiles and collage. It featured a silent exhibition where participants had the opportunity to explore the themes of the workshop and contribute to interactive exhibits. The participants created a beginner’s guide to antimilitarism, a series of new workshops and a collection of interactive materials which can be reused in future workshops and events as well as being available for online publication.

Workshops on War, Peace, and Freedom
Freedom Room Group
Al Ma’sara, Palestine
More than 30 young people, aged between 17 and 30, from nine villages in South Bethlehem participated in the main workshop. The activity addressed several key topics, including: wars and the daily experiences of Palestinians, the role of local communities in documenting Israeli settlers’ and military violations, awareness of rights and how to demand them, as well as militarization and compulsory recruitment. The participants agreed to establish a youth group in the near future. Aside from the main activity, multiple others were organized throughout the year for the children to help them release the pressures caused by the occupation and settlers, which received positive feedback.
