Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Elizabeth Barrientos, I am 18 years old, I am originally from Mexico. And I am currently studying Political Science at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico.

Why did you decide to volunteer?
The main reason why I decided to participate is because I like to support volunteering, although I had only done volunteer work within my country. Due to previous experiences, my school offered to pay for me to travel to volunteer. I found the SCI Germany organization and the work camp in Glücksburg, so I decided to take it. I was very interested because it talked about renewable energy and it had always been one of my favorite topics.

Can you describe your work/volunteering experience?
Overall, my volunteering experience was fantastic. During my stay at the work camp we carried out several cleaning activities for new visitors.I learned about several renewable energy objects that I really liked. We all help out in various activities and work very well as a team.

What Is your favorite memory?
My favorite memory I have is when at the end of the day and work, we gather around the campfire and sing songs from different countries.

What have your learned from this experience?
I learned that it is very important to work as a team because each person can have different perspectives and new ideas that can work to make the job easier.

What advice would you give someone who wants to volunteer?
Be open to new experiences, enjoy the moment and always be open to new ideas.

Would you participate again in a workcamp organised by SCI?
Absolutely yes, I loved the experience, I enjoyed every moment I definitely want to be involved in more SCI projects in the coming years.I would also like to return to the work camp in Glücksburg, I really liked the place and the experience I had there.

Thank you very much for the experience!!

You can still join!
