Recommendation on Peace Education adopted!
The Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers adopted a new Recommendation on Peace Education by, with and for young people!
The recommendation calls on member States to strengthen peace education by, with, and for young people. Among other things, it recommends that young people be actively involved in policy-making affecting peace education and affirms the recognition of non-formal education and youth work as key elements in fostering a culture of peace.
Given its knowledge and expertise, SCI was consulted to draft the text, so we are especially satisfied that it is finally adopted! We are also happy to see that, thanks to our volunteer Tobias, in their capacity of member of the Council of Europe’s Advisory Council on Youth, the text reaffirms the recognition of the right of conscientious objection.
