Midterm update on SCI’s regranting scheme
As the first half of 2025 has passed, we checked-in with our branches regarding the progress they have made for the projects they planned for this year through SCI’s Regranting Scheme. Funded through the EU’s Citizens, Equality, Rights, and Values Programme (CERV), the Regranting Scheme supports initiatives that manifest the core values of SCI and the European Union.
This year again, we are proud to be able to support even more projects. Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights so far…
SCI Italia, through their Workcamp Coordinators training, successfully qualified 25 additional coordinators who helped carry out two workcamps so far. They are now preparing for September’s Training of Trainers and November’s National Assembly. They are considering the addition of one or more activities by the end of the year.

SCI Catalunya launched the Shaping the future: Sustainable and inclusive volunteering project which aims to make volunteering more accessible to everyone and especially more sustainable. The communication campaigns of the volunteering grants have been a success so far and they are currently gearing up for a couple mini workcamps that will be happening later this year.

VIA Netherlands’ No More War in 2025 project has been progressing well. They have welcomed new team members to the campaign and have been partaking in activities and meetings together. So far, they have organised three activities: the Counter NATO-camp, Talks Against War #9: Sudan – Still Beloved, Even in Ruin and Talks Against War #10: Free Artsakh. Three more online talks are set to happen by the end of 2025, as well as the Closed Assembly of the No More War group and Films Against War.

VSI Ireland’s 160 Years of Peace Volunteering & Activism has been going well. They are holding their main event on November 29, on the same day as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which makes it a suitable date to emphasize their goal to promote peace, solidarity and intercultural dialogue.

SCI Germany launched their project Learning from history III: 80 years after WW II – where are we now? and they organized 7 workcamps in historical sites across the year. Their aim is to teach about past historical events to hopefully counter the rise of right wing governments currently happening in many European countries.

SCI Hellas reported very positive results for their They/Them Workshops. They were able to conduct activities with many participants and speakers, supporting the LGBTQ+ community with an even larger platform than initially planned!

OWA Poland’s project aims to promote sustainability, circular economy practices, and responsible consumption. In that context, they held a cooking event in a permaculture garden called Cook like grandma where they learned to cook Indian food. They are planning to hold another session in late August. A circular economy training will also take place by the end of the year.

CVS Bulgaria is planning to launch the English version of their DOBROcast podcast produced around the ICM with international delegates. The DOBROfest, an event involving both local and international NGOs with a focus on raising awareness, is set to happen in December of this year.

What’s next?
As 2025 progresses, we will keep working hard to successfully complete the ongoing projects. We are looking forward to sharing the next update at the end of the year, with the final results of each project and their positive impacts. No matter what, we continue to emphasize the importance of our common values and goals for a more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable future!
