Youth Volunteers Supporting a Peaceful Democratic Process: Election Observation by SCI Nepal Bhaktapur
Bhaktapur, Nepal — 5 March 2026
SCI Nepal Bhaktapur actively participated in observing and supporting the election process held on 21 Falgun 2082 (5 March 2026) in Nepal. The main objective of their involvement was to observe the election environment, support voters in need, and promote a peaceful and accessible democratic process.
During the election day, volunteers from SCI Nepal Bhaktapur visited and inspected several election booths (polling centers) within the Bhaktapur area. The team interacted with election booth commissioners and officials to understand the overall situation of the election, including voter turnout, management of the polling centers, and security arrangements. Through these interactions, they gathered information about how the election process was being conducted and ensured that the environment remained peaceful, organized, and transparent.
SCI Nepal Bhaktapur volunteers also provided support services to assist voters, particularly elderly people and physically weak individuals. They helped those who needed wheelchairs or physical assistance to reach the polling centers safely so that they could exercise their right to vote without difficulty. This support ensured that the election process was inclusive and accessible for all members of the community.
As certain personal items such as mobile phones, smart watches, pens, keys, lighters, and other belongings are not allowed inside the polling booths, SCI Nepal Bhaktapur volunteers helped voters by safely keeping these items outside the voting area. They also provided drinking water to voters and election staff at the polling centers to support them during the election process. This voluntary service helped maintain the election rules while ensuring that voters’ personal belongings were safely stored until they finished voting.
Throughout the observation period, the election process appeared peaceful and well-managed. Voters were cooperative, and the polling staff and security personnel were actively working to ensure that the election proceeded smoothly and safely.
SCI Nepal Bhaktapur is proud to contribute to promoting democratic participation and civic responsibility through election observation and volunteer support. Their volunteers were committed to ensuring that voters, especially vulnerable groups, could participate in the election process comfortably and safely. SCI Nepal Bhaktapur remains dedicated to supporting community engagement, peace, and democratic values in Nepal.
