Our Asian branches met in Bogor

From 10 to 13 September, activists from Asian branches and groups of SCI gathered in Bogor, Indonesia for the annual Asian Platform Meeting (APM). The two-day meeting was hosted by IVP Indonesia.

The character of this year’s APM was different because the aim this time was not only to gather and update each other – still an important aspect -, but also to include a peer-to-peer exchange program, which was intended to lead to improvements of the Plan of Action of the individual branches as well as the one of the regional IDEA Working Group and the Asian Liaison Office (ALO).

A central session was the World Café, where branches exchanged about:

  • volunteer management
  • fundraising
  • networking
  • sustainability of IDEA and ALO

This session led to new insights and ideas and was followed the next day by individual branch work where aspects of the sessions before were taken into account in their branch Plans of Action.

The meeting was also attended by Hani Nurlina, youth officer at CCIVS, who was pleasantly surprised by the interactive and cosy character of the program. She herself gave a presentation about CCIVS and the possibilities of cooperation and networking.

The feedback and the evaluation of the participants about the APM – regarding both logistics and content – was very positive.

The APM was followed by a mini-program, which contained visits to Jakarta and to a local partner organization of IVP Indonesia.

This APM should be seen as a starting point for Asian SCI organisations to improve their functioning. Asian branches actually have a lot to offer, but now we should make it happen. Deeds and Words!

APM 2026 report

Over three days, APM 2026 provided a structured platform for SCI branches across the Asia-Pacific
region to reflect on peacebuilding, strengthen organisational sustainability, and build the networks and
partnerships needed to advance the movement’s work. The discussions on branch sustainability, the
ALO Office, and the 2026–27 Plan of Action set clear priorities for the region going forward, and the
sharing of branch experiences and best practices reinforced the value of continued collaboration within
the SCI network.
