Inclusive Youth Engagement for Sustainabilty

Maria from INEX-SDA tells us about a new platform they developed with three partner organisations

Inclusive Youth Engagement for Sustainabilty (I-YES) is a platform created for youth workers and actors in volunteering, sustainability, and non-formal education. It was developed by five organizations in the field, with a network of experts and young people from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, and Romania. We want to give youth workers an introduction to the concept of Global Citizenship Education and provide methods and tools for their work with young people on the topics of climate justice and sustainability. The Global Citizenship Education (GCED) approach enables youth workers to address young people from diverse social backgrounds and encourage them to become involved in global issues. The platform’s goal is to achieve long-term change by raising awareness and fostering critical thinking about the issues of global justice and sustainability, as well as providing materials to take action. The platform is filled with information that can help one to work for a better future, from concepts to actual methods, I-YES provides material on topics, like:

  • Sustainability;
  • Youth leadership across the globe;
  • Inclusion and Diversity;
  • How to plan an activity;
  • Nutrition.

Last but not least, as part of our “Take Action” topic we developed a checklist on “How can I be a good youth leader and motivate young people to get involved?” which you can use to better access your abilities based on the opinion of experts in the area.
