June 2016

This is the story about our International Workcamp Coordinators’ training which was organized by SCI Catalunya. We were all eighteen participants from twelve countries in Mas Franch, from 31st of May to 6th of June 2016.

During these days we had many sessions regarding the organization of camps, methodology for conflict transformation in workcamps and tools for leading workcamps with group dynamics. We discussed more about good practices as well as key values in workcamps. Then we looked at different aspects of workcamp coordination through the view of participants who were coming from many organizations and associations.

We also had knowledge sharing sessions on Gender and Climate justice. Working groups of mentioned subjects in SCI Catalunya facilitated those sessions in a scientific way.

We enjoyed a mini workcamp on our second day of the training. Mas Franch team shared with us their experiences and knowledge about organic farming. We cleaned and planted Bamboo trees beside the water stream and rosemary in the garden. It made our team closer!

There was an interesting Human library organized in Olot. We shared our stories and listened to others’. Even though we came up with a single story, it made us broader. We also shared our cultures with our fellow participants through debates, discussions, sharing our traditional food and attitudes.

Moreover we enjoyed our time together, lots of energy, fun and laughter!
